Cézembre est une île côtière située en baie de Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine). Elle est inhabitée, à l'exception d'un restaurant ouvert durant la saison estivale. Elle est située sur le territoire communal de Saint-Malo. L'île présente une plage de sable fin orientée au Sud, face au continent, et une côte rocheuse et escarpée face au large.
En août 1944, l'île de granit, solidement fortifiée par l'armée Allemande comme élément du mur de l'Atlantique et de la Forteresse Saint-Malo fut intensément pilonnée pendant près d'un mois par les bombardiers alliés qui utilisèrent pour l'une des premières fois en Europe des bombes au napalm. Plus de 20 000 bombes seront larguées. L'île ne se rendit que le 2 septembre par manque d'eau, les soldats allemands survivants ayant résisté dans cet enfer furent salués militairement par les officiers américains prenant pied sur l'île.
Du fait de ces bombardements, l'île présente une végétation rare et un relief tourmenté. On y dénombre plus de 2 000 cratères de bombes. Elle n'est d'ailleurs toujours pas complètement déminée et l'accès à la plus grande partie en zone nord est interdit, la zone sud avec la plage et le restaurant est accessible.

Cézembre is a coastal island located in the bay of Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine). It is uninhabited except for a restaurant open during the summer. It is located in the municipality of Saint-Malo. The island has a sandy beach facing south, facing the mainland, and a steep and rocky coast facing the open sea.
In August 1944, the granite island, heavily fortified by the German army as part of the Atlantic Wall and the Fortress of St. Malo was heavily shelled for nearly a month by Allied bombers who used for the one of the first time in Europe napalm bombs. More than 20,000 bombs will be dropped. The island did not surrender till Sept. 2 by lack of water, the survivors who resisted German soldiers in this hell were greeted by American officers military foothold on the island.
Because of these bombings, the island has sparse vegetation and rugged hills. There are over 2,000 bomb craters. It is also still not completely cleared and access to most of the northern zone is prohibited, with the south beach and the restaurant is available.
